This is a year-long coding program designed for learners in lower primary and upper primary (Grades 4 – 6). It introduces learners to block-based programming, game design, and computational thinking in a progressive, term-by-term structure.
Learners explore coding through interactive projects, problem-solving activities, and creative digital storytelling. By the end of the academic year, they will have built a portfolio of projects including animations, quizzes, and simple games.
The course is aligned with Kenya’s Competency-Based Education (CBE) by fostering creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and digital literacy.
By the end of the year, learners will be able to:
Programming Fundamentals
Use block-based programming to apply concepts such as loops, conditionals, variables, functions, and events.
Debug and refine their own code.
Game & Project Development
Create 3–5 working digital projects (games, animations, interactive quizzes).
Present a final showcase project in Term 3.
Computational Thinking
Break problems into steps, apply logic, and design structured solutions.
Practice persistence and creativity in solving coding challenges.
Typing & Digital Literacy
Improve typing accuracy and speed.
Develop digital confidence (safe internet use, basic file management).
Collaboration & Creativity
Work individually and in teams on coding challenges.
Present projects to peers, teachers, and parents.
Portfolio & Certification
Build a personal coding portfolio on Elimu Pepe.
Receive a Sprix–LoHo Coding Certificate at the end of the academic year for 80% and above performance.
