Learning Area Requirements

To successfully learn Pre-Technical Studies at Grade 7, learners need:

  • Learning Materials: Grade 7 Pre-Technical Studies curriculum design, textbooks, lesson notes.

  • Digital Resources: Laptops, tablets, or smartphones for research; internet access.

  • Stationery and Tools: Notebooks, pens, flashcards, scissors, charts, marker pens.

  • Community Resources: Local entrepreneurs, production units (e.g., salons, welding shops, cybercafés) for field visits.

  • Teacher Support: Guidance in brainstorming, group discussions, role-plays, and project-based learning.

Learning Area Description

Pre-Technical Studies introduces learners to entrepreneurship and technical skills that nurture creativity, innovation, and problem-solving.
In Term 3, the focus is on:

  1. Introduction to Entrepreneurship – understanding its meaning, importance, qualities of entrepreneurs, and sources of business ideas.

  2. Production Unit – exploring factors influencing location, size, and importance of production units.

  3. Financial Goals – developing financial discipline, learning how to set, manage, and evaluate SMART financial goals.

Through discussions, research, role-plays, and fieldwork, learners link classroom knowledge with real-life business practices in their communities.

Learning Area Outcomes

By the end of Grade 7 Term 3 Pre-Technical Studies, learners should be able to:

  1. Define and appreciate entrepreneurship and explain its importance to individuals and the community.

  2. Identify and describe qualities of entrepreneurs and relate them to successful businesses.

  3. Recognize and analyze sources of business ideas relevant to their environment.

  4. Explain factors influencing the location and size of production units through community examples.

  5. Demonstrate financial literacy skills by setting and evaluating SMART financial goals.

  6. Apply teamwork, creativity, and research skills in projects, role-plays, and presentations.

  7. Value entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-reliance and community development.
