Mathematics in Grade 7 helps learners build on primary-level skills to develop logical reasoning, problem-solving, and application of math in real life.
Requirements:
Teacher: Qualified and CBC-trained.
Materials: Learner’s book, teacher’s guide, rulers, protractors, compasses, calculators, graph books.
Environment: Spacious classroom with charts, math tools, and access to ICT resources.
Time: At least 5 lessons per week (40 minutes each).
Assessment: Continuous assessment through tests, projects, and observations.
Support Resources: Charts, models, measuring tools, and digital aids.
Cross-Cutting Issues: Environmental care, digital and financial literacy, ethics, and entrepreneurship.
Competencies Developed: Critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, innovation, numeracy, and digital literacy.
Mathematics in Grade 7 enables learners to develop logical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills for use in everyday life and further learning. It strengthens their understanding of numbers, algebra, geometry, measurement, and statistics through exploration, reasoning, and real-life application.
Learners engage in hands-on activities, projects, and the use of ICT tools to discover mathematical relationships and patterns. The subject nurtures accuracy, creativity, critical thinking, and confidence while promoting positive attitudes towards mathematics as a tool for innovation and decision-making in society.
Learners should be able to apply math in real-life situations, think critically, solve problems accurately, use ICT tools, interpret data, communicate using math language, work collaboratively, and show confidence and a positive attitude toward mathematics.
